Studio Updates

Just over two years ago we decided to take Sosolimited to the big time and open up our own art and technology studio. It's been an amazing experience so far. We've been able to work with some incredible clients and we've also found the time to develop to our artistic practice.

We're now a studio of five. Lauren McCarthy joined us full time after finishing her Masters at the UCLA Design and Media Arts program. We've known Lauren for years and are really excited to have her on our team. Just this month we brought on board Chen Blume, a talented designer and all-around great person. We continue to work closely with our good friend and trusted advisor Jesse Baer-Kahn. Jesse is involved in a lot of innovative small businesses and you can follow his work on the City Retail blog.

Over the past two years we've shifted our artistic practice towards physical installations. Set Top Box was installed at the Shanghai Biennale and is now part of the Graphic Design: Now in Production exhibition. This exhibition opens at the Walker Art Center and travels around the country through 2014.

After years of dreaming and planning, we recently installed a permanent artwork into Firebrand Saints, a new gastropub in Kendall Square, Cambridge. Firebrand is the vision of our good friend, chef and owner, Gary Strack. Gary hosted our very first performances at the Enormous Room in 2003 and he's always be a big supporter of the arts. Firebrand is no exception. Great drinks, incredible food, and a number of interesting artworks fill the space.

We'll provide more detailed updates on our design work, but a highlight was working on the IBM Think Exhibit at Lincoln Center. The massive exhibition was years in the making, and we were just one of many talented firms working on the project, but we're really honored to be involved in the exhibition.

We wouldn't be here without the help of our friends and collaborators, and the trust of our clients and partners. It has been an exciting two years, and we feel it's just the beginning of Soso. Get ready for ReConstitution 2012!
