10/04 Enormous Room, Cambridge
A persistant theme of ours is to transform the worst possible source material into entertaining and engaging content. We put this theory to the test when we remixed the evening news at the Enormous Room in Central Square.
This audiovisual performance drew content from a number of channels of live television. The broadcast audio was incorporated into an original breakbeat mix and the video signal fed the visual transformations. Finally, the Closed Captions were digitized and allowed us to add a dynamic typographic layer to the composition.
Positioning ourselves in the middle of the lounge, the performance became an intimate exchange between performers and audience. Reacting to the unfolding news, we truly distorted the day's events more than Fox, ABC, and NBC could at their best.
