A Multimedia Participatory Artwork for the Denver Public Library
A participatory artwork set in the Green Valley Ranch branch of the Denver Public Library. Visitors to the library that use special search kiosks to find books, movies, and music contribute to the evolving collage of visuals arrayed across a large video-beam in the center of the space. If lots of people are browsing for BBQ, the display shows images, movies, and quotes that have to do with food and cooking. If people are searching for golf, puppies, or halloween, those topics become reflected on the screens. All of the videos, pictures, and text used in the piece were taken from the library archives. This artwork was conceived, designed, and produced by Erik Carlson. Sosolimited programmed the software, consulted on, and installed the hardware. Bocoup wrote a Chrome plug-in that allowed us to interact with the library Card Catalog system.
